Company story proves adapting to dynamic economy reaps big rewards
MAKATI CITY, Philippines, 18 June 2010 – The BayanTrade Group of Companies (BayanTrade), a subsidiary of ePLDT, celebrates its 10th anniversary today by reinforcing its dedication to providing world-class business solutions and outstanding customer service. As a leading business solutions provider in the Philippines and Southeast Asia, BayanTrade also renewed its focus on strengthening its foothold across industries in which the company has established expertise – real estate and properties, engineering and construction, consumer packaged goods (CPG), pharmaceutical, and manufacturing industries
Founded in 2000 by six of the Philippines’ largest conglomerates — Aboitiz and Company Inc., Ayala Corporation, Benpres Holdings Inc., JGC Summit Holdings Inc., PLDT, and United Laboratories Inc., BayanTrade gradually changed its business model from a dotcom to offer sourcing and procurement services. In 2004, the company expanded its business to include technology enable solutions relating to supply chain management, enterprise resource planning (ERP) and strategic sourcing and procurement representing global leaders in technology like SAP and IBM. Within two years, BayanTrade became the leading business solution provider across the aforementioned practices. In 2006, BayanTrade extended its services by launching BayanTrade Academy, a training and education facility that specializes in supply chain management, encompassing processes and technology. These are world class training and education programs in partnership with the International Trade Center (ITC) and the United Nations Center for Training and Development (UNCTAD), as well as SAP. Completing the lead to globally-recognized certification.
BayanTrade grew its business further via its merger with local business solutions company ABM Computech Enterprises Inc (ABM) in 2007. The newly-formed organization was in a better position to cater to the business and technology requirements of both the Philippines’ large enterprise sector and the small and medium-enterprise (SME) market. The strategic merger also extended BayanTrade’s reach to cover Visayas and Mindanao.
In 2008, BayanTrade forayed into the region through the acquisition of CITP Singapore and PT Columbus IT Indonesia, leading partners of global technology leader Microsoft. By the end of the same year, BayanTrade Malaysia was established. With established offices outside the Philippines, BayanTrade started its journey towards becoming a regional player in its business domain.
ePLDT, the Philippines’ premier information and communications technology company and a wholly owned subsidiary of telecommunications giant PLDT, saw significant value in BayanTrade which led to the latter’s acquisition by April 2009. With this significant development, BayanTrade added its domain expertise to the portfolio of services offered by ePLDT to its market, while BayanTrade leverages this portfolio and financial muscle to further enhance its value to the customers.
Ten years after BayanTrade was established, what was once a dotcom became a full-fledged business technology solutions company with a complete portfolio of services for both large enterprises and SMEs. BayanTrade is now also able to deliver world-class solutions and services within the Philippines and across Southeast Asia.
